Create Your Own Video Tutorials

At a meeting earlier this week, we briefly discussed recording short videos (e.g. "5-min Dive into Data"). You can then arrange these videos on a Google Sites for others to view later. This is particularly helpful for creating flipped lesson videos and/or staff development video shorts!

Note: If you are a Mac user, in addition to the options below, you can also use built-in Quicktime Player to record video, then place that video on ECTV. (click the links to view short tutorials on how to do this).

Step #1 - Record Your Video
Two options for video recording exist...By the way, these tools below work on any computer with Chrome browser, including Chromebooks.

Option #1 - Record Your Computer Screen Only
This option enables you to record your screen. Great for walking people through a web site (e.g. "Here's how you access the TEKS Resource System. First, open your browser....").

Option #2 - Record Your Computer Screen AND Your Face
This option enables you to record your screen but also turns on your computer video camera so you will appear in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
  • MediaCore Capture - After recording and saving a video from MediaCore Capture, you will need to convert it from WebM video format to MP4 video format. You can do that using Zamzar.com WebM to MP4.
STEP #2 - Share Your Video on ECTV OR YouTube
Once you have created a video, and it is in MP4 video format, you can put it on ECTV (http://welearn.ecisd.net), the District's video hosting site, or if you prefer, YouTube.com. Then, you can share the web link to the video with others, such as the ones below:
