Critical Windows Update Schedule

Dear ECISD Staff:

Thank you for your attention to this email that will help enhance your productivity! As shared with you prior to the Winter Break, the EC Technology Operations Office will be working to enhance your computers with an update. INSTRUCTIONS FOR STAFF

Thank you for taking the time to review the information in this time-sensitive memo. To enhance performance of computers using the Windows operating system, the EC Technology Operations (ECTO) will make critical updates available to District computers. Your assistance is needed to make this successful.

STEP BY STEP FOR STAFF

Please notify staff that have Windows computers that they will need to take the following steps:

1. Shut down computers (go to START button, then click SHUT DOWN) at the end of the day your campus is scheduled below. This will cause the computer to begin processing criticalsoftware update instructions.

2. The Shut Down process will turn off the computer when updates are complete. Please avoid shutting down the computer prematurely. The update may take an hour or longer.

3. The next morning, turn on the computers and allow them to continue processing updates as necessary. Completion times for updates will vary from computer to computer.

UPDATE SCHEDULE

Below, please find the schedule for Windows computer updates:

Jan 16^th – Legacy & Sinclair

Jan 18^th – John Glenn & BCLC

Jan 22^nd – Pecan Valley, Harmony, ECDC

Jan 23^rd  – Highland Forest, Transportation, Custodial Services, PSC, Athletics, PD, Learning Academy

Jan 24^th  – Central Office and other departments not specifically mentioned previously.

Jan 28^th  – Heritage & Oak Crest

A few notes:

• Salado Campus is not included in this schedule since updates were completed prior to Winter Break. 
• High School will be completed at a later date to allow for other campus commitments. 
• District Services housed at a campus will be updated on the same date as their campus.

5. Chrome 23.0.1271.95 m
6. Quicktime 7
7. Shockwave 11.6.8r638

The following will be installed

1. Libre Office with default settings to save as MS Office extensions. THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO CENTRALOFFICE
2. Aleks Plugin
3. Adobe Reader XI

Uninstalls the following;

1. Open Office 3.3.x                  THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO CENTRAL OFFICE     
2. Adobe Reader 10
